The 30-second product demo formula
A 4-beat structure that turns a product video into a click. Works for 80% of TT Shop categories.
4 min read
Most TT Shop demos fail because the creator spends 12 seconds on the unboxing and 0 seconds on the conversion mechanic.
This formula reverses that.
The 4 beats
0–3 sec Hook (problem framing)
4–10 sec Demo (the moment of truth)
11–22 sec Proof (what makes this credible)
23–30 sec CTA (urgency + link)
Beat 1: Hook (0–3 sec)
State the problem in the first 2 seconds. Skip the unboxing.
"If your kitchen still smells like garlic 3 hours after dinner, this is for you." "I've used 4 mini vacuums this year and only one didn't die in a month."
The hook does the targeting. Stop trying to make every video appeal to everyone — narrow it sharply.
Beat 2: Demo (4–10 sec)
Show the product doing the thing, not the unboxing. Buyers care about the result, not the packaging.
Cut tight. 6 seconds of actual demo footage. No music swells.
If the demo isn't visually obvious, it's the wrong product to film.
Beat 3: Proof (11–22 sec)
This is where most creators fail. Add ONE of:
- Social proof: "4.7 stars, 8,000+ reviews"
- Personal proof: "I've had mine for 3 weeks, used it daily"
- Comparison: "I tested this against the $80 version — same suction, half the price"
- Receipt: show the actual order, the actual delivery date
Without proof, the video is just an ad. Proof is what turns it into a recommendation.
Beat 4: CTA (23–30 sec)
Specific call-to-action. Real urgency, not fake.
"Link in bio — it's $32 right now, was $45 last week." "Yellow basket icon, gone by Friday probably."
Don't: countdown timers, "ACT NOW", manufactured scarcity. TikTok flags these and viewers ignore them.
What kills the formula
- Talking about yourself before the hook ("So today I want to show you…")
- Showing the package before the product
- Adding a music swell that drowns the spoken hook
- Skipping the proof beat
